Delivering Support

Our work with thousands of survivors has taught us to appreciate the differences as well as recognize the similarities in human responses to images and experiences of catastrophic violence and loss. What works for one person may not work for another. Therefore we are flexible and adapt our approach according to the needs of each individual person.

Our overview diagram illustrates not only areas of service delivery but a philosophy of care. It is a map that each clinician holds in his or her mind when assessing a client. It helps us to plan our approach and prioritise our interventions.

In addition to a small and committed core team of dedicated HBF clinicians we are adept at harnessing and orchestrating the external contributions of solicitors, barristers, doctors, counsellors, social workers and others to deliver legal support, health and psychological care, social welfare and rehabilitation as required. We are committed to best practice, evolving and sharing the most effective treatment methods with other professionals in our field. We also undertake educational and human rights advocacy work at local, regional and national level
